How long have you been with Team Results?

I initially bought together the best local Action Coaches to bring their individual expertise to help local business owners build their long term sustainable wealth. As the concept developed additional like minded professionals have joined to give the joined up advice that is needed to truly support business owners.

Why do you do what you do?

Having built and sold my own companies I understand the pressures on the owners of small businesses as they transition to medium sized businesses.

I have met many, many business owners who’s energy has been sapped by the pressures of the business they have built. It’s not success as they imagined! They have not achieved the real potential of their business, their idea, their creation. Often they accept second best as the sacrifice (family, relationships, health….) has just been a high price to pay. Been there done that and its not necessary!

The SME market is the driving force behind the economy, we innovate, we provide employment, we are flexible but the quality of support is often woefully lacking. It is time for that to change.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

In this particular business our biggest challenge is to overcome justifiable scepticism.   However, that scepticism is often to protect our Ego. That’s much harder to overcome.

In my last business I remember seeing many an advisor and thinking I am successful, I know how to run my business what can they teach me! My biggest challenge was overcoming my own prejudices to accept that perhaps there is a different way.

Well there is – and the hardest step is the first step.

What areas do you specialise in?

My particular area of expertise and passion certainly lies in family businesses, succession and business owner exit strategy. It’s a fascinating area and full of issues.

What is your Vision for Team Results?

One of my major frustrations is when I see opportunities and potential being squandered.

In business this covers not fully achieving the potential in an idea. It’s just the waste of the energy. I have heard every excuse under the sun but actually if tends to boil down to lack of truly understanding our experience and fear of asking the hard question of ourselves and others and then taking that first step. That infamous Comfort Zone. When we unlock the understanding we unlock the opportunity and achieve the potential.

Ultimately the largest waste is in the resource of our children. How much talent is squandered by our education system? Let’s build a business environment  and education system where we can pass on the understanding to the next generation so they can build the new businesses of the future. (Oops have I just got on my soapbox!!).
